2012 Diary

27th May 2012

Yesterday my husband and I met up with Stephen Saleh, and his wife Gloria, to walk the line. The route took in all the important aspects of the fascinating story that will make up London’s Dark Lines, the novel idea that Steve has built for a while and one that I’m going to help him make a reality. Officially I start to ghost write his project in July…so not long to go now!

Soon I’ll be back on the book trail, selling my new book to Waterstones stores in time for shelving before the Olympics. :) And of course, the grass court season is upon us, so we’ll soon be heading off to Eastbourne for our annual pilgrimage to the International tennis there.

All in all, a very busy time at the moment—

12th May 2012

The official launch date of WTSMP His Return has arrived! The Kindle version is already uploaded and ready to go. Promotional photoshoot went well today around London (see photos) and I’ve heard that my episode of RFEBS airs next week! All very exciting! :)

27th April 2012

Today we have finalised the order for Book 4 with our fabulous new printing company, Imprint Digital.

Having decided that the new Wix website doesn’t quite work as I want, I’m designing a new one to showcase the WTSMP series. Watch this space for the link when it’s live! :)

Soon I’ll be shooting promotional photos with the new book. Again, watch this space! :)

24th April

Have resubmitted the PDF cover that needed a minor change, and ordered another proof before we go ahead with the printing of Book 4.

Today I’ve been building a Wix website, there’s also a mobile site too, for smartphone users who cannot properly access ‘normal’ sites.

This is the Wix website all about WTSMP, and this link is for the mobile site:

Apparently the two sites link up (I hope so, it took me all morning to do!)

19th April 2012

A monumental day. My husband/manager/IT manager/eye-for-design went to London Book Fair on Tuesday without me as I’d just about managed to beat the still hanging on concussion symptoms but fallen victim to the stomach bug going around! His trip was incredibly valuable. We have two choices for a printing company for Book 4.

He was most impressed not with the company I’d found online, but with a smaller company he stopped and spoke to, who are called Imprint Digital, from Devon. They have a clever piece of software you download, into which you load your PDF’s of manuscript and cover, and after a few tweaks where necessary, your work is done and the book is ready to print!

We had a go this morning after a few uploadings and notings of what the ‘errors’ were, but I wasn’t sure about the cover PDF – it had generated 6 errors, none of which made sense to me. However, once I’d emailed off for an explanation, it seems my cover is fine and none truly matter. Naturally, the proof is in the pudding..so we’ll send for a proof later and see what comes. Fingers crossed!

6 April

Think we have found a new printing company! Only hope my symptoms will subside in time for the London Book Fair – in 10 days! Then we can meet. Fingers crossed!

17 March 2012

Last week I hit my head and concussed myself! Only I could do it! It’s really affected the dizziness that I suffer from…only it’s not spinning that I’m getting, it’s more like a sideways slide. As a result I haven’t been able to do much, but thank Goodness the book is finished.

I’m just waiting for London Book Fair in a month’s time to finalise who will print my books. The company I found locally, when I quizzed them about the figures, unfortunately the figures didn’t add up. There was no profit to be gained by selling any books that I had printed through them – unless I bulk buy. That would be alright initially but how would I get an additional 30 or 40 copies? It simply wouldn’t work. I’m quite gutted by this as I was very impressed with the company. Alas these things do happen!

26 Feb

Tuesday will see the final edit before the book is sent for printing! So excited! :)

21st February

Have reformatted the whole manuscript again, as I noticed some of the speech marks hadn’t converted properly when I switched fonts to suit my new printing company. It’s taken Hours…but it’s done now. Also reworked the Kindle version as that would’ve been full of errors too.

I was so glad last week when we attended a meeting with the new printing company, Copyzone, to see they are so enthused about their work, and that of their clients. I feel the book is in safe hands :)

12th February 2012

So my week off draws to a close :( but what a week! :)

Yesterday we went for our annual visit to Kew Gardens for their Orchid Extravaganza, before having an afternoon meeting with Mr Stephen Saleh, who wants to work with me to produce his book next year. I’ve never dabbled in ghost writing before but I’m hooked on his script, and I do love a challenge! Work will officially commence on his script at my desk sometime in July, as the months in the run up to the Summer are of course reserved for getting book 4 out and promotional duties of every nature!

(Plus our annual pilgrimage to Eastbourne for the International Tennis and then onto Wimbledon in June!)

Due to inclement weather, I didn’t venture very far from my desk this past week, therefore I completed two edits on the manuscript, completed the book jacket, re-designed my business cards, and set up listings on eBay for all three novels. I’ll be glad to get back to the day job for a rest!!!

As I write this, several thousand miles away our idol, Dave Koz himself, is heading off to co-host the Grammys. It’s ironic to think that our Jason Bottelli nurses the same dream of hosting such an event, and he too gets his chance – in the next instalment of WTSMP! Here’s the link to Dave’s photo on Twitter, doesn’t he look handsome?!

7th Feb

Today I completed the design of my book jacket for my fourth book. Literally, my IT manager has just solved the problem of why the QR code on the back didn’t work!

Now I’m away to step into poster design; earlier I re-designed my business cards, and I must admit, they are superb!

True to my promise, here’s the link to new photos on our website of last night’s snowfall.

4 February

This week I’m on holiday so I intend to finish book 4. Tuesday sees us visit a print company locally. Hopefully they’ll be as good as they sound!
Planning also to do some photography :)

20th January

Tomorrow we’re going to see Robert to finalise Tuesdays interview and his scene in my next book!

10 January

Yesterday I was invited to feature on Robert’s Full English Breakfast Show. The series is being transmitted via YouTube, and it’s a great privilege to be invited onto the show. Filming will commence in a fortnight’s time, and to be honest, I’m both thrilled and petrified, as this will be my first televised interview.

My host, Robert Gray, agreed to be featured in my next book (as well as his career in acting, he also owns a B&B in Greenwich, Number 16) – thus there is much work to be done!

7 January 2012

Those of you that have been following my blogging will remember that I was easier able to post updates thanks to my smartphone. Unfortunately the ‘widget’ that enables me to do this no longer works. I’m hoping a replacement will be uploaded that will enable normal service to resume, as I have a terrible memory, and we are one week into 2012 and this is the first 2012 post!

In a fortnight’s time, we will be meeting with the actor Robert Gray himself to discuss his forthcoming chapter in my next book, to coincide with London hosting the 2012 Olympic Games.

I’m hoping also soon to upgrade my pocket camera so it will be easier for me to post more photos and of course follow the excitement that is London 2012.

27-12-11 OK, so it’s not 2012 yet, but it will be soon!

Today is Jason Bottelli’s birthday, all of my fans will know this. I’ll soon be writing the last scene for the next book; but it’s not the last one, as the Prequel will be the last. I want to make this clear, as it’s in this book that Jason meets his maker.

I had no idea when I sat down to write my first ‘proper’ novel to be published that I’d make such an incredible journey with my characters. Jason is as real to me as your own family members, so writing the scene where he dies was probably the most difficult I’ve ever done. I hope that I have completed the scene ‘correctly’; certainly I believe that it is not a scene that needs a graphic, descriptive passage.

I know I’ll never make it as good a saxophone player as he is, because he was born musically gifted. (Wish I was!) His career spanned many decades, and just like his (and my own) idol, Dave Koz, he enjoyed every moment of it. He was ever
grateful to the people that helped him, in any way, large or small, and so am I. Without them all, there would not have been the WTSMP series. So to you all, you know who you are, I thank you, and so does Jason.
